Quote from the videographer: “My father and I were videotaping planes at Lake Hood taking off and landing when the wind kicked up and sent the Beaver taking off right at us. The wing was less than 5 feet over our heads, and the radial engine was less than 8 feet to my left. No exaggeration!! The slow motion at the end gives a little better look at how close it was.”

“Holy crap.”
I said holy shit.

haha that sucks.
Stupid gravity.
“Cabin boy, fetch me my brown pants.”
will you give me happy endings like last night?
Rectum hell, damn near killed him.
epic shit.
Dude almost gets run over by the plane but still has the cahones to keep filming as he rolls on the ground and manages to get the crash. Well done.
Love how “Holy Crap” sounds in slow motion.
agreed
huh, huh. you said “beaver”
Hey Pilot, try taking off into the WIND!
you could tell that its not reving fast enuff
give it some gas noob
did they deathed?
Holy shiiiit!!! This is in my hometown, Anchorage, Alaska! That is Lake Hood. The world’s largest float plane airport. I reckon those mountains in the background. smiley face
What a gorgeous day that was.
FROM THE LAST SLOW MOTION SCENE, THE PILOT LEFT THE WATER RUDDERS DOWN IN THE WATER TAXYING POSITION, THERE WAS VERY LITTLE WIND, LOOK AT WATER SURFACE AND FOLIAGE - IT IS HARDLY MOVING. I BELIEVE THE WATER RUDDERS ACT IN OPPOSITE EFFECT TO THE AIRPLANE CONTROL RUDDER. I AM ONLY A LANDPLANE PILOT, A FLOAT PLANE PILOT WOULD KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG, BUT IT LOOKS UNCONTROLLED, OR IMPROPERLY CONTROLLED FROM THE START OF THE TAKE OFF RUN. EXPENSIVE INSURANCE PROBLEM !
I this case here. I think what happened is some guy CAPS LOCK stuck on and didn’t realize it. I’m not sure because I’m only a doctor and not a rocket scientist, but a rocket scientist would know what really happened. THIS IS A HUGE PRoblem
