22-year-old pilot Kyle Davis and passenger Joe Surowiec were flying the plane for a friend when the engine failed. Watch the pilot keep his cool as he lands the plane in the middle of the road. This event was captured by two cameras, one in the cockpit and the other facing the engine.

…shit…
I WOULD HAVE PANICKED AND CRASHED
Ditto.
i think pilots re trained for that kind of situation.
fake
After the engine cut out the 2nd time i would have absolutely pooed it.
Fake, why would they have TWO cameras onboard? Also how is the engine “failing” when they clearly restart it two times? Also notice how there’s no traffic at all driving in their landing lane on the road. Wow, what a “coinsidence”.
A lot of small aircraft pilots set up multiple cameras to capture video from different points of view, often from the cockpit and often another on the wing. The engine is “failing” because it shuts down ONCE. If all engine power is lost even for a short while during any flight, all pilots are trained to take emergency landing precautions. Stop trying to bastardize this phenomenal landing of a small aircraft under extreme pressure.
Also, if you look at the beginning of the video, the passenger is showing the pilot a camera, and the video is credited to the passenger. This could have been a scenic flight where the passenger (clearly a photographer of some sort) was trying to get as many good shots as possible.
Skydivers wear cameras no?
and have you never started a vehicle that will quit like 10 seconds later.
I think you’re just one of those retard dick heads who thinks everything is fake, because you’ve obviously done nothing worth while in your miserable life.
Except comment that it’s all fake on everything you look at.
There’s multiple reasons why the engine would stall out, and be able to restart it.
You’re saying that you’ve never had any engine, large or small, stall out, able to start it again, and stall out once more?
Bad fuel.
Bad headers.
Blown Pistons.
Bad air intakes.
Don’t claim it’s all fake, simply because you’re ignorant man.
“I think you’re just one of those retard dick heads who thinks everything is fake”
XD
Coops, you clearly dont know anything about engines on aircrafts or on anything for that matter. So please, educate yourself a little bit and THEN give your opinion. It is possible for an engine to restart for a few seconds or even start normally. Maybe the carburator is trimmed bad and is deliviring fuel too lean. Or maybe the filters and or summps are plugged. But it was pretty cool to see that pilot to keep his cool and land safetly.
wow, if you are serious about your comment, you must have a miserable life, not beleving in anything….maby you should seek medical help…
YHBT
shit…my heart….
shit… my pants…
If that had been me the audio would have been one long string of beeps. Like morse code!
“i’m so sorry joe”, and “**** the wing!” haha
Definately not fake, plus the engine would have started easier with the force of the wind assisting the movement of the propellor, much like push starting a car (sort of) But bottom line is, a planes engine should never stop whilst in flight.
Ive flown planes for 8 years and have got 2 camera’s on board recording at all times - but thats incase I get to see a UFO or something that people dont believe in, as you get to see some very strange stuff up in the skies.
why is every1 one quick to saying fake as the see something, stop being pricks -_-
Its quite the opposite, two people stated it was fake, one of them was a douchebag, everyone flamed him, now everyone is commenting on how real it is even though the issue was resolved
He’s obviously one of those who once notices that a single person has claimed it to be fake assumes that everyone else does as well.
first of all props to the pilot who landed this thing because i would have shit myself about 6 times over.
second fuck you to the fags who thinks it fake
third would be a question of did he hit the wing at the end?
4th and final i would say that video was fucking amazing and i have no idea how he landed it so smooth he was wobbling as he came in and just smooth as a fucking babys ass. that pilot has enormous balls
The only thing I’m confused about is why he didn’t call mayday and give his position when the engine faile…maybe he felt like he didn’t have time, but why was he flying that low to begin with? He flew the plane well but flying low over a populated area isn’t the smartest thing to do, especially in a single engine plane.
Prop planes don’t fly all that high to begin with. And it’s safer to fly them in populated area because IF something like this happens they have time to put it down somewhere safe. Where if this happened to a jet aircraft they’d drop like a rock.
Yes, Pilots train for this. Much of my dual instruction time consisted of my instructor pulling the power to the engine and then me setting up for a landing.
No mayday because the order of precedence is
1) Aviate
2) Navigate
3) Communicate

Everyone is attacking the guy for saying its fake because of the engine. But no one has an explanation for absolutely NO TRAFFIC on their side of the rode.
Im not saying the video is fake but what are the chances on no cars at all?
Could it possilby be a small town and most everyone is AT WORK…
When I was in High School in central florida I saw a small aircraft that essentially did the same thing. There was traffic, but when we saw an AIRPLANE landing we all pulled over…Its probably a pretty good bet that is what happened here.
kudos for pulling over into a parking lot dude, very polite.
Wow, those guys were so relaxed… Well at least they looked it
LEEROY!!!
fucking awesome! i thought at least the wheels would snap off on a building or a car would hit them or something would fuck it up but that was awesome.
I like how in the end, he just pulls into the parking lot.
Yeah, lets get some Wendy’s, all in a days work.
I’m no expert and all, but shouldn’t they call out mayday on the radio? Since by now the air towers have lost them on their radar without a trace nor message. (Also, there IS traffic on the road in the same direction they land, just not as many as ongoing traffic. If you spent any time driving a car in traffic you know at certain moments of a day the traffic isn’t going at a specific direction)
Guys I’m a pilot. There are a lot of options pilots use for emergency landings including fields and roads etc etc. If there is an emergency pilots are allowed to deviation from the aviation rules and do what it needed only to the extent of the emergency. This guy preformed flawlessly. He is indeed a top notch pilot.
Actually Yuri if your a pilot you would of done things a little differently then that. First off you wouldn’t be flying less then 1000 feet above ground level over a populated area, meaning they were breaking an air law by flying so law. Second off as soon as the engine quits like that, your first reaction might be to say FUCK!, but in reality its to put the airplane into its best angle of glide, as you want to increase the amount of time you have before you hit the ground, then you try to restart the engine, then you make an mayday call, they clearly didn’t make any call once they go past the point that the engine wasn’t going to restart fully.
Then not to mention that once the airplane was less then it looks 200 feet above ground they started the engine twice more for less then 10 seconds, only increasing in the landing speed of the airplane, which would of only made it harder to slow down when landing onto a traffic filled road, which if you notice theres no traffic on the road at all , not even any pulled off to the side.
I highly suspect that this video was done under care and planned ahead of time. Not to mention that when an engine fails completely, the rotor on the front will spin around (windmill) due to the force of the air current, suggesting that this airplane was either being flown by idiots or ones with some sorts of test underway.. since most people don’t fly with two cameras attached to the airplane , both pointing towards the engine and rotor.
Odan,
Sounds like your just trying to prove how smart you aren’t.
Do you know what 1000ft AGL looks like? Try flying a traffic pattern and tell me how high off the ground it looks.
He did pitch down, my guess is for best glide.
As for the radio call, they were obviously in uncontrolled airspace and didn’t have time to switch to 121.5
My two cents on the engine starting; the mixture was too lean, the fuel pump was malfuntioning, the fuel selector was inbetween settings (happened to a buddy).
And lastly, if this was staged neither one of those pilots would have their license right now. You cant just land on any road. I don’t know a single pilot who would throw away 10,000 dollars of training for a video.
Im a flight instructor so STFU.
bravo…very impressive.
