Two people died as a result of this accident on Donner Pass. It appears to be human error, since you can see the brakes lock up right before the trailer goes over.

Wtf kind of music for that ?
nice cheezy music
okay wtf is this guys problem?! he saw it happen and filmed it but didn’t even stop to see if he was okay?!?!
^^^^
retard what happened at the end of the video?
the guy filming was driving a truck, it takes about a half mile for a truck to stop completely and safely
what happened to the white truck??? did it crash too?
We reap what we sow. Drive like an asshole and it will catch up to you eventually.
you people are retarded. something was wrong with the truck to make it go out of control. they have “out of control ramps” along highways on mountains. but they are spaced far apart. they probaly couldn’t stop and the truck filming was most likley in the way. which is why they were on the inside of the turn and then started moving toward to edge to make it a wider turn. he saw the trailer start flipping cause thats what normaly goes first. He slammed on his breaks but it was useless cause the trailer was past the point of flipping. Also it doesn’t take a truck a half a mile to stop completely and safely i don’t know who told you that garbage but if it took them a half a mile to stop them they obviously are not safe enough to drive through a town. Learn to think before you spew out non-sense.
and he did stop. it was another semi truck filming so he cant just pull of anywhere on the side of the road.
^ Wall of text.
Esp: After viewing the clip again, I agree that there was something wrong with the truck. There was an asshole operating it. And he was moving far too quickly around that corner. He deserved it.
The driver of the vehicle (probably a truck) that filmed this did the most sensible thing he could do.
Stopping in the cloud of dust or shortly after it might render him invisible to any fast cars behind him. And those cars would be in for the last suprise of their life, ripping through a dust cloud and then meeting with a big parked truck.
So he drove through the dust and parked well ahead of the haze. He also pulled over to the safe right hand side of the road.
It’s people like this driver that make sure a grave accident doesn’t get any worse than it already is.
I’m disappointed to see a video of a deadly accident here, by the way. I come here for fun.
fuck you, esp…fuck you.
he was going too fast. that simple.
This is fake.
hachi86 - you’re retarded…
No, the sensible thing would have been to stop immediately turn on your hazard lights to warn motorist coming around that corner. Throw a flair or two out behind you as well.
Opinionated bunch of mother fuckers aren’t we now.
There was a flashing sign saying 55mph for a reason!
6% Grade Ahead
Downshift Now
Said the sign that was blown over.
Some truckers need to take it easy, dont realise how big they are.
two people died? That’s too bad…
R.I.P.
In 25 years of driving through I80/Donner, I have only seen a truck stopped in one of the runaway ramps once. Runaways are definitely a problem but more likely this turn just crept up on him and he lost it. You get a lot of stupid ‘going too fast’ pile-ups on this road.
Its funny though: they write special warning signs up there in ‘trucker speak’ that literally say stuff like:
“Downgrade 7 Miles - Gear down ‘n let ‘er drift”
It looks like he had to swing in to the inner lane to avoid the truck that was filming and then tried to make it back to the outer lane for the turn. Switching from one lane to the other coupled with the turn caused the trailer to fishtail and it went over. People who have never driven a heavy vehicle don’t realize how easy it is for something like this to happen. You come around a turn and see a slower truck in front of you, you can’t just hit the breaks there’s HUGE amount of inertia involved. As for the filming truck taking so long to stop he actually stopped where he should of: off the bridge out of the debris cloud.
I could not stop laughing
Cerebral, as much as it is hard to drive a big truck like that, the driver is still at fault. Just because it is hard, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have slowed down more. Why did he have to overtake the film-truck at such high speed, especially before a sharp turn? I doubt he “just saw” the film-truck…, it was a straight road.
If it is that common and “easy for this to happen” we should see one of these accidents, approximately one every 4 hours or so…
The short section we see at the beginning looks straight but this looks to be a winding road through the mountains. Even so people who have never driven a loaded truck simple don’t understand that everything takes a LOT longer. I never drove a rig. I drove 24′ straight jobs and it used infuriate me when some idiot in a car would pull in front of me as I wass approaching a light and hit their brakes. I HAD enough distance to stop now I don’t and they get mad at ME when I almost crush them. I’ve worked with drivers who had to over an embankment to avoid a car or into a snow bank because some idiot decided at the last minute they had to make a right turn instead of a left.
It IS easy for this to happen, all it takes is a momentary distraction on a turn, taking a turn a little too fast or an improperly loaded truck. It is NOT common because most truckers are far better drivers than people who don’t drive for a living. It’s their job and they do it everyday. That’s not to say there aren’t some real winners out there
The music reminded me of all those super cheesy 9/11 videos, lol.
Wow, J, thanks for the wave of stupid you just cast over us all, I dont know about you, but I dont personally carry a video camera with me when I decide to drive to my neighboring city, but next time I do, ill take a video of a crash involving the same company that always wrecks going down Sexton.
I’ve driven over Donner Pass many times in the truck close to 80,000#.
What you see here is a rookie driver that has little knollege of what long grades and heavy loads can do. Truck brakes are different than cars and if you “ride” them they will overheat and stop working or even catch fire…..
Looks to me like he had NO brakes and was going way too fast for the curves.
Keep laughing fucktards. Karma is a bitch.
does anyone have a reason why my ejector waste trailer rolled over on a round about.speed was not an issue.intered at the proper speed, trailer was over 5 years old . please help .
