Peng Yu-lun, a resident of Sanwan Township with a penchant for R&D, unveiled his “non-stop MRT system†to the world on Monday. The system avoids trains having to decelerate and stop at station stops, instead taking on boarding and alighting cars on the fly. The narration is entire in Chinese but there are enough illustrations to see the point.

My question is how do you actually get to the main train from the cart, or vice versa. I guess you have to do this one step at a time, but that seems like a pretty crucial step…

I’m sure that they are going to have a system to latch the cart into a the loading/unloading zone of the train, which will be released at a precise time allowing the old cart to leave, and letting the new cart latch on.

Has anyone worked out the permutations for how many carts you would need on a 15 stop line with the possibility of getting off at any station? It’s 105 carts!! For a 10 stop line its 45 carts! The energy needed in stopping at starting will be saved. But what about the energy needed to transport these extra carts throughout the journey? Not only is this inventor a complete noob, so are the people who have posted saying ‘great idea’.
