I think he is totally right, its all for ratings of the news. That and I think that the news channels are trying to take focus off of the REAL PROBLEMS! like oil prices, genocide in darfur, and the middle east!
I never really liked the montel show anyways. what a douche
good on him, i don’t give a shit about heathledger or brittany spears or whoever else is on the damn news, i care about the real news
The truth hurts. Especially when the truth is hitting Fox. That’s why he was cancelled.
Once more… Can I get a Fuck the Media on the count of 3?
1…2…3… FUCK THE MEDIA!!!!!!
Thank god someone spoke up against all that bullshit. At least it wasn’t as bad Anna Nicole. The news would be less interested if the US glassed Iraq.
Fucked up he got fired, but at least he had the balls to tell the truth.
yea rly what fags fox suxks cockx motels my nigga
tenth!!!
Fuck the Media is right my man, weed for everyone !! (go to the marijuana vending machine page to get your own) hahaha pz out guys
Damn Fucking Right! I have so much respect for that man right now. yes, it’s sad that Ledger died…but you know what…lots of people die every day and just because he was famous for getting his ass punched…doesn’t mean anyone gives a shit about how or why he died.
In 2 weeks no one will care. Those troops are risking their lives every day and will never get the fame or money that he made. but you know what? none of them have to pretend to be someone they are not. and they are protecting the interests of this country.
God Bless that Black Man!
I’ve lived abroad for a long time and don’t really know Montel’s show, but I admire the guy immensely for saying what he did and staying on topic. That his comments may have cost him his show is one more sad sign that the U.S. media–particularly Fox-related entities–have lost their objectivity and perspective.
Well, well, well. The self-righteousness abounds!
Some of you hypocrites now bash Fox for “firing” Montel based on his pro-military comments on this show, when just moments before (it seems), you were bashing Fox for always hyping the Bush/Cheney, pro-military line. Which is it going to be? You can’t have it both ways.
The reality of the news is that NONE OF the major outlets have an ounce of journalistic integrity between them. Did CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and the rest drive the Heath Ledger “tragedy” into the ground too? You bet your ass they did, so doing the “Fox is bad/Bush is bad” chant is as pointless now as it ever was.
I don’t know a damn thing about the circumstances of Montel’s cancellation, because I couldn’t care less, and I appreciate his sentiment on the issue, but Montel has a flare for drama like the rest of you sissies, and his statement of how he was “disgusted with himself” for not knowing the names of the soldiers who have died, was nothing but hyperbole. I don’t know the names of the soldiers either, but I’m not disgusted with myself because of it, since my not knowing their names doesn’t mean that I am not aware of the danger of their chosen profession, nor that I lack respect for their efforts.
Get over yourselves.
At least he went out a man. Troops are dying for us to maintain our way of life and we’re busy talking about celebrities. What he said is the truth and it’s too bad he got fired. Although Fox is the big name that stands out, any of other source of media would of done it as well.
seriously dude, people dont know movie stars, but people are close to the soldiers that die out there who are friends, family, boyfriends and girlfriends, and children. Fuck ratings.
mr wtf its not the fact that hes pro-military that we are supporting him, you should get your facts straight. For me, im supporting him because he spoke out on a cause that is true and is a real problem. People here are bashing fox because they fired him for free speech.
thats my take on it
Fuck FOX
lol, Montel is the shit!
somebody, you only have free speech on Fox if you agree with them. Especially when Pill O’Reilly is involved.
Silva Brown didn’t warn him. “I’m feeling something. Has someone lost a family member ?” “Yes….I lost my grandma 8 years ago. How did you know?”
I never really cared for Monetl’s show.. Props for this piece, tho
“Somebody” who can’t comprehend simple statements should NEVER tell someone who can to “get your facts straight.” This is especially true when the original subject involves mostly opinions, and not “facts.”
But let’s do talk about facts now:
FACT: There seems to be a consensus from mostly liberally biased sources (like the Daily Kos - which also has trouble maintaining facts), that Montel was “fired.” This is not a fact, but it is creative conjecture, as having certain outlets ‘opt to not to renew’ a distribution agreement, is a long way from the termination of employment.
FACT: Fox wasn’t in a position to literally “fire” Montel, because his personal contract wasn’t with Fox, but rather with CBS/Viacom, who produced his show.
FACT: The industry’s leading trade journal, Variety, first reported the story using the headline “Montel Williams calls it quits.” That doesn’t sound like he was “fired” to me.
FACT: Some “key Fox-owned stations” opted to not renew their contract with CBS TV Distribution for Montel’s show. When that decision was made, what influence his rant on “Fox and Friends” had on that decision, and the additional speculation that Montel may have already known of this decision BEFORE his appearance (potentially PROMPTING his argument), are not known to us at this time, and are therefore NOT FACTS.
FACT: Fox has a political bias in the way they report their stories. So do most every other major “news” outlet, whether print, broadcast, or otherwise.
FACT: Every other major corporate news outlet talked more about Heath Ledger’s fate than they did about the deaths of American soldiers in the Middle East. Because Montel happened to be on Fox at the time, does not translate to his specifying Fox as the sole culprit in his criticism, contrary to what some would like to believe.
These are facts. Your opinions are nice and all, but just because you want to believe something, does not make it a fact.
Case in point: Constitutional “Free Speech,” Brendan, applies specifically to the prohibition of government interference in the individual/private right. It does not necessarily extend that prohibition to Fox News or any other privately held entity or individual.
Hey WTF! What the fuck? I do not care about what anybody above me said, but I will say that Montel was right. Sure, you are right about the fact that every other news station does the same thing. Montel was just pointing out the fact that important news is not presented to the public, and instead we get to watch daily coverage on things like Ledger and Anna Nicole’s death. It does not even have to do with Iraqi troops. I want to hear more about everything from our economic recession occuring to other international and domestic news that actually affects us. SO WTF, no disrespect, but SHUT THE FUCK UP!
Hey Aaron! What the fuck, indeed! Why would you tell someone to shut the fuck up when you have just repeated one of the points that they just made? Maybe the reason the media only talks about trivial things, is because most people are like you and can not comprehend more complex statements and ideas. So, Aaron, much disrespect intended, YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP!
i dont think he sould have been fired he is right
thats american politics all about the ratings
I wanted to draw your attention to “Help Keep Montel Williams on the Air” petition.
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Keep-Montel-on-the-air?e
I’d like to encourage you to add your signature, too. It’s free and takes less than a minute of your time. Thanks!
Ooh, a petition! Isn’t that sweet?
Again, WTF? I think someone is missing the exact point that Montel was referring to. A petition to keep him on the air? Who the fuck are you going to petition? Fox News?
I think Montel would agree that your time would be better spent in pursuit of other, more pressing issues. Don’t you think?
FACT:
Rupert Murdock, the owner of FOX, stands to lose billions if we pull the troops out of Iraq. We can’t have anyone putting a gloomy spin on the war now, can we? That Nazi might lose some money. Trading lives for dollars…now isn’t that a concept?
End of Discussion!
End of discussion? That just means that you have stated your “theory,” and you don’t want to have to face the FACT that you have no data to support it.
wow. i never really liked montel williams but this changed that. i’m beyond impressed
I LOVE MONTELL WILLIAMS ITS THE ONLY SHOW I LIKE. PLEASE DON’T TAKE OFF !!!
Mr. WTF:
It feels like you contradict yourself by quoting “facts” regarding information that Variety reported and then basically saying that most media does have a political slant.
Also, you believe there is a difference between “opting not to renew a contract” and firing someone. That’s kind of funny.
I can’t help but wonder if you really believe most everything you see or read in the news? You seem to be interested to “hear” the next report about whether or not Montel knew before or after the Fox News and Friends appearance. If you read - say, in Variety - that Montel knew of his show’s new circumstances before he appeared on FOX would you believe that to be true? Just wondering.
I simply find it quite ironic that after 17 years running, he speaks out on a major news program and has now already taped his last show.
What I read or see from any main stream media is simply entertainment. Take it to heart? Don’t bet on it. Not in your dreams.
Dear DONNA.
Uggghhh! I was SO glad to see your response to WTF’s LOL. I was actually relieved, as I thought…”Damn, I hope someone has said something to this prick and didnt let him have the last word” So… you are right though he continues to contradict himself.
Oh and another thing, I am SO sick of finding “that one asshole in EVERY crowd” on these blogs when its nothing more than expressing your feelings. Why does one “FEEL” he/she has to be hasty, volatile, or so matter-of-factly.
And to you WTF: Make SURE Your so called “facts” are just what you say, because NOT everything you hear and read are FACTS. Pay attention and damn it, calm down!
I agree with Montel BTW, and glad he had the guts to say it on TV. Good for him.
God Bless, Montel. He spoke the truth. Montel you are a real man.
Montel has every right to be upset with all that coverage on one movie star and hardly anything about the men and women dying for our country… and “WTF”, have you ever sat down and actually thought about how you are allowed to say what you are saying…..its because of those men and women you have died for our country…not a movie star. Now don’t get me wrong, I think Heath was an amazing actor and have seen a vast majority of his films and liked them all, but he should not have gotten all that media coverage.
you go Montel ! that is stupid they talk about a loss of an actor who overdosed over loss of live fighting for a country .. the media is going to hell !
