why doesnt a large wealthy foreign company turn the land into a proper mine and use the local blacks to work in the mine and then use the larghe profits to build schools ect

Izmegogo, the United States is the second largest gold jewelery consumer in the world. We account for %14 of global consumption. We are only second to India, and since I’m not on a Hindi speaking website I figured I’d address the target demographic. I’m just saying, before you go out there and “sport” your gold take a second to think where it came from.
If you buy it, you support it, you sustain the current situation with all its poor working condition for the miners and wars being fought over it. That’s how simple it sadly is. You could boycot it and products that contain gold. Maybe not religiously, but at least you will think about it before you buy electronics or jewellery that contain gold. The less we buy, the less its valuable to the militia’s. Tho that doesnt really solve the problem of Congo’s economy. It at least is a start.
Whatever. That whole continent is messed up. Quit trying to blame others for buying something thats been sought after for thousands of years. I’m not putting a gun to their heads or forcing them to do anything. It’s a messed up situation that they are in, but what did the former militia peeps do with their guns? Shoot other people, most likely for gold, or they were led like sheep to fight for regional control for some other greedy bastard. Whatever, they have the means to get out of that situation, they just have to do it and not be complacent. It’s a tough life, but they choose to stay. Shoot, slaves ran away way back in the day for freedom; they had the balls to do it, whats wrong with these people? Complacency.
