Apartments are small and expensive in Hong Kong, so architect Gary Chang designed his 344 square foot unit to change into 24 different designs, just by sliding walls and panels around. He calls it the “Domestic Transformer.”

@The only good liberal is a FUCKING DEAD LIBERAL. KILL, KILL, KILL………KILL ALL FUCKING LIBERALS
You are a fucking moron. You do know that he’s Chinese and not Korean right? The term Gook is used to refer Koreans, dipshit. Get you facts straight before typing shit out.
Also, what does any of this have to do with driving?
You are a fucking moron. You do know that the word gook was used by american units to describe a Vietnamese person? You are stupid as shit. Get your facts straight before typing shit out.
and this is why the world hates Americans
This is why no one likes the internet.
actually it’s why the world hates bigoted retards
Congratulations, you have discovered the basic troll.
Actually, its origins are from the Korean War. In Korean, America is miguk (for an English-speaker, ‘me gook’). So when they heard Koreans say this in front of them, Americans called Korean gooks. And since all Asians are the same, Americans continued calling the Vietnamese gooks when they that war started. Get you facts straight before typing shit out.
Just watched that movie 3 days ago. Props to this dude.
Thats the coolest shit I have ever seen. Its like an ikea store in one freaking room.
Awesome! I agree. It is like an Ikea Store in one small room. Totally amazing! I wonder how much it cost to put together?
That is pretty sweet shit…
I wonder if those compacted apartment buildings pass fire codes…
If it catches fire, you just poor soy sauce on it and wait until the meat is done.

I love the fact they had to put subtitles on the video lol.
That guy had to spend a fortune to get that all done like that…However, it would be worth it!
I live on the upper west side of Manhattan, (I understand what it means to live in small spaces and making the most out of the space you have) and having options like that in most NYC apartments would make life so much better for so many people!
As for the racist people making comments, you are so funny! I bet you are all experts at driving (assuming watching NASCAR makes you an expert) and I’m sure you visit your local “Chinatown” all the time…how else would you know so much!?!?
that is pretty sweet… but honestly… with all of those cd’s? seriously? GET freakin teribyte hd and back that shit up! or better yet AN IPOD!
no shit! that is a waste of space…he could of put a stripper pole on that wall.
lol

they showed a bathtub but where was the toilet, and since everything is being pulled out into the open. Do you have to pee in the living room? What about guests? haha
The bathtub IS the toilet.
Well now that the xenophobes, the 15 year old boys, and unacceptable life forms have spoken….
This is a fantastic idea! I did not expect anything like this when the video started playing. Well done, human ingenuity is amazing!
BTW it does look like the 5th Element.
Very nice. Thanks to thin panel television, this became a bit easier. Computers can be thin, these days, for the same reasons. I liked the closing scene of the projection screen lowering and a projection television displaying on the screen. I wonder how well an american style kitchen could be implemented in the space he allotted? And where is the privy?
Bah,
Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Goofy had this technique down in the ’80s; And in a trailer house no less
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlM1zHNyy38
Sorry about that, they did this in 1938… I saw it first in the eighties
Cool stuff- It would be really awesome if you had a remote control that could transform the room for you!
Where’s the bathroom?
Very sweet, specially his thought about the mirror roof to cope with the lack of space, but as for the kitchen, how does he get water if it’s a moving structure?
This man is very smart. Even with that design, though, i wonder how more than at most three people could live there comfortably.
Everything that requires water is attached to the underlying anchor wall
Excellent and creative use of space. We could use a few innovations like that in our tiny house…lol.
This is totally Photoshopped! Shenanigans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Nice, really interesting but I doubt it’s suited to a the usual family with two kids thing. There aren’t any obvious or shown “rooms” to offer privacy so it seems only good for one person. Maybe two. What d’you wanna do if you wanna watch the tv at the same time as you’re cooking?
Oh god, please stay in hong kong and dont come here! that kinda life scares me to death
Not only is this pretty cool and handy, think about how much time he spends cleaning his house, or the amount of rent he pays for such a small space in which he has everything he needs.
But I doubt he’s concerned about rent prices since it looks like he paid thousands to change his “house” into what it is now ;3
All those sliding walls & tuck away items of furniture still have to be stored, thus reducing the amount of space to live in. And what sort of ‘living’ can you do in a place like that? I agree it may be OK for one person but have my doubts for a family. Shame we don’t see it being used by a family, now that really would demonstrate it’s versatility.
And if he can afford all those modifications he must have a bob or two, maybe enough to afford a bigger place. This place, while impressive, does NOT looked lived in. A nice concept, but that’s all I think it is, I don’t think it’s had much genuine use.
Gaaah, why does he have those awful covers for the windows, the yellow light is extremely annoying.
