In a real court room, the Judge would not put up with the defendant.
Judge Marilyn Milian is a joke in the legal world. Asides from that fact, she thinks that her title comes with some sort of right to be a complete fool and disrespect anyone she feels deserving. She says you must earn respect? I have not seen her do so in one case. She is abrasive and unprofessional and completely unaware that she is nothing more than something funny to talk about with your friends.
Looked like a simple case of sexual tension to me. Just watch it again. The “Doctor” and the “Judge” are hot for each other. If they would just get out of the courtroom and take it to the bedroom, maybe she could be the “Doctor” and he could be the “Judge.” I feel bad for the bailiff, because it’s obvious he’s hot for both of them, and yet they just don’t think of him in that way.

Funny thing…..in doing a follow-up on this cretin, it turned out he was neither a lawyer nor a doctor of anything and subsequently was sued by the production company for false representation.

Judge Milian is one of the most respected judges in the country. Her overturn-on-appeal rate is less than 1.5%! That means 98.5% of her verdicts stuck!

You can’t be held in contempt on the People’s Court or any other “TV judge” show. The reason is that the people presiding over the cases are not actual judges. The show will have the parties to a real court case sign contracts agreeing to have the case decided by an arbitrator. Marilyn Milian is acting as an arbitrator on the show not as a judge so she can’t hold anyone in contempt. Nor can “Judge” Judy or “Judge” Mathis.

The Judges on these tv shows are all real judges. Retired, but still real. John - what Brian said about being held in contempt is quite true. It doesn’t matter that it’s just a binding arbitration, since it’s a television show. “Contempt of court” in this case means that they don’t get the financial settlement that is paid to them by the show’s fund.

Where the guy told the judge to refer to him as doctor I understand. He earned that title of respect. Where he tells her, “Watch yourself…” is crossing the line and she should have kicked him out for that. You don’t threaten a judge.

Marilyn Milian is very sharp, she makes most TV judges look slow and stupid. She is almost always right on the money with her judgements. I like how she commands respect and keeps control of her courtroom. And to Kaddy, your the joke, you made a fool of yourself with those ignorant comments. Milian is one of the most hypocritical, racist, sexist, and loud-mouth persons I have ever seen on TV.
Love it when she starts to rant and rave, and raise her voice when she doesn’t get her way - like a 2 year old.
My friends and I have nicknamed her, Judge “raving Roland’ Milian from the Volksgerichtshof (also the People’s Court) in Nazi Germany. Look up a YouTube clip of raving roland and you’ll see the similarities.
Judge Milian demands “respect” from the litigants in the People’s Court but shows NO respect for them herself. Yelling at them (not simply “raising her voice” but YELLING) and pointing her fingers at the litigants shows that she has no control over her own emotions. She’s a “show judge” - “made for TV” and that’s it. After seeing her take off with yet another (daily) yelling fit a few months ago, I’ve never watched her again and never will. She needs anger counseling.
Anyone trying to say Judge Milian is not respected in the judicial branch of the United States Government is a master of the obvious. I mean, quite literally, a fucking idiot with no hope in life. People who appear on the show get paid, and they likely aren’t even real cases, everyone knows that. On the flip, goddamn I want to fuck ms. Milian. Annoying, high-maintenance jersey girls make for a most terrific lay.
