As many of you have heard by now, there are rumors floating around of Jay Leno returning to his original time slot at the expense of Conan. And as any good comic would do, Conan finally addresses the reports on his show and he didn’t hold back.

What they’re doing to Conan is wrong. And I’ve always been a big Conan fan. He’s just not that funny anymore though. He takes up too much time laughing at his own jokes or pausing after he’s told a joke to start up with some stupid small talk that isn’t really all that funny. I think Conan is funnier and more intelligent than Jay Leno. But his show drags along far too slowly now. They need to make their writers do overtime so Conan can be snappier in delivering in jokes in sequence. He has a prime time slot now, and he needs to step it up.

well, he has now said he won’t be continuing with the show they had planned for him. You know, I don’t normally have anything personal against corporations (cause it’s an enormous waste of energy usually) but this guy has provided years of number one material and ratings for their company. He moved his whole family to a different side of the country to try this new situation, because they knew he was worth it. That they would shift everything again, and they haven’t even given him a year to make something of the new slot, and new audience, it just pisses me off.
I am not the most die hard fan of Conans, but there is a reason this website has more clips of his than any of the other hosts out there. And that reason is that he can make people laugh, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. He is absurd at times, but it shakes people out of their bubble, and gives people some levity.
Perhaps that is what made the channel think that they could just make decisions of great magnitude and that it wouldn’t bother him. Well, it just goes to show you that he is a real person after all, and has real limits. Maybe his decision will make people take him seriously for a change. He deserves it, and he certainly deserves better than what they did to him.
