there’s a video codec called libcaca that can output any video as text art, and there are tools that can output frames from a video as files, combine the 2 and it takes no time at all to make something like this

Looks pretty easy, just stop the video frame by frame on SVP8 and put that into an ascii generator, anybody with half a monkey brain and internet access could do it.
