There is an easier way to solve the terminal velocity portal fall. What you need to do is have both portals flat on the ground so that he falls into one, and up out of the other. Eventually, wind resistance, and the pull of gravity when he’s half way through the portal? will slow him down to a float, half-way through both portals. He can then climb out at will.
