This music video was filmed in one take, with audio being recorded simultaneously with the film. The rapper’s name is Nyle who is currently a senior at NYU and a star of perhaps one of the most feel good rap videos I’ve ever seen.
Why the hell do you still use Photobucket or Imageshack? imgJoe is where it's at, you noob :)

Whoever she is………….She’s HOT
Not a fan of the song really, but that shit was still good.
I thought he seemed a little too gangsta with his jumping around.
Video was decent lightning could use a little work. Song was kind of annoying mostly because of the two chicks.
I thought the Lighting was great
those chicks were annoying. oooAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
hell yes! minus them and its a pretty damn amazin song, but, yeah….STFU!
This may be one take but the audio was not recorded simultaneously. The syncing is amazing, don’t get me wrong. I’m a video editor and audio engineer, there is no microphone in existence that could capture the dynamic range of that recording. I might have believed it but the string section alone would require its own mic array. Plus it would have to be multi-channel compressed in post, severely. Huge talent here though.
Cheers.
There is a visible microphone by every single instrument shown in the video. Perhaps you’re looking into things too much. The string section may require its own mic array to sound superb, but you can barely hear the string instruments in the video (probably because they are playing further away from their mics).
I’m not going to claim that I know more about this stuff than you, but I don’t think your knowledge on the subject is particularly applicable in this case. They’re in a studio with professional mics, so why is it impossible that these things were recorded simultaneously? Or do you mean that the camera microphone didn’t record the music? If that’s what you’re saying, then I think everyone hear knows that already without your explanation. But that still means the audio and video was recorded simultaneously - just not by the same device.
You made some good points and thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt, that I know what I’m talking about. I’ll make sure I’m clear this time and fully explain. I’m not saying that this video couldn’t be made, just that this isn’t it. With technology nowadays, pitch and timing can be completely overhauled. This isn’t the case here though. As you pointed out the instruments are clearly mic’d, except the strings and the women at the beginning. I’ll start with the women. The first woman’s mic clearly has a lot of “room” in it, meaning it almost sounds like she is singing
in the shower and the mic is outside the shower. The second woman’s voice has less, this means they have different proximity to whatever mic is recording them. Still, this doesn’t prove anything. What does prove it’s not live, is that when they get up and walk around their proximity to their respective mics doesn’t change. Plus I’m 90% sure, they are merely looped throughout the rest of the song. Only because their timing and pitch is dead on. Also, as you said, you can barely hear the strings in the video. That is my exact point. String sections have almost the widest dynamic (high volume to low volume) and frequency range (high pitch to low pitch)in all of music. This means that you would require heavy acoustic isolation to prevent noise bleed into the other mics. In fact not only would the the string
section wreak havoc with the piano, banjo and electric guitar, but the unbaffled bass amp alone being so close to the drum kit would rattle the snare uncontrollably. It’s a reaction called sympathetic resonance, google it. Lastly, the nail in the coffin if you will, is the vocalist himself. Being that most hip hop artists “eat the mic” and are rather loud, they would require a dynamic mic. These have a cardioid pickup pattern, again, google it. When he stands in front of the string section, not to mention the brass section, with his back to them (aka pointing the cardioid at the strings and brass) it would totally mask his voice. Being that the track is definitely multi-channel compressed, ANY bleed in a mic would only be magnified by it. If you have any further questions, I’d be happy to answer them.
MusicMan hit it spot on. As a Berklee School of Music Alumnus (from way back), and having spent a little time in the studio myself, I can say that his analysis is correct.
Any further questions, he’d be happy to answer them.
Hahaha
I was thinking the samething. The girls did not have a mic.
MusicMan could have said “shopped!” and have been done with it. I am sure that none of us would have felt any different.
very true
Had he abbreviated it, there would have been the standard juvenile retorts to the contrary. In fact, he did abbreviate his opinion at first, and look what happened.
His second explanation was necessarily much more thorough, in response to Kurayami’s rebuttal, and effectively covered the theory in full.
Also, “shopped” refers almost exclusively to the term “Photoshopped,” and since his argument was in reference to audio, and not to visual aspects, the use of that term to explain his position would have not only been incorrect, but also insufficient.
I am sure that I felt “different,” knowing that I understood the mechanics of what was happening, rather than just taking the producers word for it.
Thank you sir.
Awesome vid. So much better of a song than that shit Wayne put out. I can actually stand this guys voice for a whole song.
First of all: Happy Cinco de Mayo!!
Second: Despite not really being able to understand what he says half way in, thats some damn good audio and video skills. As an amateur myself, I know how hard that shit is. Props
lol. Either way it was a pretty good piece of work. Song wasn’t that great, but everything looked pretty good.
good video. ok flows. decent but annoying vocals. good instrumentals. annoying Emcee
The violinist and lick my balls and rim my A hole.
